aki launches its 2 shot moulding capability

Injection moulding specialists A K Industries Ltd. have announced the acquisition of an Arburg ST570C, 220 Tonne two shot moulding machine. This new technology gives aki the ability to produce complex mouldings from two different polymers at the same time. Components possessing strength and rigidity but also needing tactile surfaces can be produced in one operation. Rigidity and flexibility in one component are possible without the use of adhesives, saving assembly time. Those applications requiring seals to be fitted can have them moulded in place, giving the major benefits of reduced assembly cost and no risk of missing seals. For those applications requiring decorative features the same machine can mould in two colours of the same or different materials, reducing the need for painting or printing, and giving the component hardwearing self-colour properties.

Arburg's technology is well proven and aki are standardising on this manufacturer's products.
